Hi, I’m Caroline. I’m looking forward to getting to know you! Here’s a little about me:)
I’ve been writing for companies for over a decade. Maybe it’s my fascination with human behaviour and writing, but moving into the marketing field came natural to me. I love understanding and learning why people act and react the way they do. I love how some words resonate with some and turn others off. Or why a product is selling off the shelves when a similar one is collecting dust.
But I recently came to terms with a gap in the marketing space. I have intrigue about the craft, but I have developed a deep frustration with the lack of personal connection, personality, and personal understanding of one-self when it comes to marketing small business.
I started Flourish Marketing over five years ago after four years freelance writing for businesses and resources across Canada and the United States (before then, I was writing for companies as a full-time employee). (Cool fact: I was accepted into a noteasytogetinto government grant program for small businesses to start Flourish!)
I grew Flourish into something I am really proud of. I have worked with many different businesses, big and small, and hired some talented contractors. At the end of 2015, business was booming for me. But, in early 2016, I got really sick. I had a bad infection called cellulitis which was a complication from mastitis (which I got from breastfeeding my second son). I was down emotionally for a few months, let projects drag and some even go…
There’s a silver lining, though!
When I was feeling down I looked at my business and asked myself if there was more. You see, I have an innate need to help. I’m a nurturer by nature (Cancer sign!) But the social media management, the reports, the strategies, the writing weren’t fulfilling this need. My clients trusted me to plan, strategize, and implement their marketing but they didn’t trust themselves to know why this was the best course for their clients! I could tell them what I thought and get them results, but when they understand from a core level and implement from a core level, that’s where the magic happens. I wanted to move in a direction to make this magic happen, always. Make sense? So I hired a business coach to help me understand this vision I had from my business and here I am now working oneonone as a coach.
To go further into my credentials, I have an undergraduate degree in social work and social development studies from the University of Waterloo. I also have a postgraduate in PR and Communications. On a personal side, I’m a mom to two boys (six and almost two) and married to my wonderful husband. We live in a small area near Toronto called Port Credit. I feel so fortunate to live on the water. It’s so calming and inspiring – and that is exactly what I want my business and life as well as the lives of my clients to be.
I look forward to working with you!
xx Caroline
